Kaali Poster Controversy: The Kaali Poster controversy erupted after filmmaker Leena Manimekalai shared the poster of the film on social media. The poster depicts a woman dressed in the costume of Goddess Kaali. She is seen smoking a cigarette in the photo. Along with her usual accoutrements of trishul (trident), and sickle, the actor playing the goddess is shown wielding the LGBTQ+ community’s pride flag.
The arrests of two top bureaucrats in Bengaluru on July 4one a senior ranking IPS officer and the other an IAS officerin separate cases have brought the focus sharply back on corruption allegations in Karnataka. While Additional Director General of Police Amrit Paul was arrested in connection with the ongoing probe into a police sub-inspector recruitment scam, former Bengaluru Urban deputy commissioner J. Manjunath was taken into police custody in an allegation of bribery. The government has placed both officers under suspension.
Following the arrests, Opposition parties have stepped up pressure on the Basavaraj Bommai government.
