Ukrainian officials now anticipate more attacks against the city of Slovyansk, as Russian forces move further west. Russia now occupies all of Luhansk, and about half of Donetsk – the two regions which make up the Donbas. But a defense advisor told DW Moscow is yet to establish its control of the area.

Kyiv is also making post-war reconstruction plans. Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal told the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Lugano that the country needs $750 billion (€718 billion) for a three-stage recovery plan. He added that the Ukrainian government believes that a key source of funding for the recovery plan should be assets confiscated from Russian oligarchs.
